As part of #ServicesWeek across Government, I organised and ran a ‘What is User Research?’ drop in day at our Manchester office. Our programme director and I were available for most of the day to meet and talk to colleagues (and of course snacks & freebie stickers were provided). The aim was to meet colleagues across our organisation face-to-face and explain what user research is, and provide examples of the services we have improved through user research and design. We hoped this would increase understanding of user research across the organisation, and also give the digital team more visibility in our Manchester office (where we are currently a small team).
It was hugely beneficial to talk to colleagues from different departments not just about user research, but also learn more about what they are working on, and how our work intersects or interrelates with their work. I am hopeful this will result in even more effective collaborations moving forward
Here are some pictures from the day:
Hi Dr. Samla,
I am interested in user research too. It’s necessary to leverage this kind of design research to solve instructional and performance problems for individuals and organizations as well.
